Westport Recreation

  • Longshore Club Park is a 169-acre shorefront park, featuring an 18-hole golf course, 9 tennis courts, paddle tennis, 3 swimming pools, a marina, a sailing school, an inn and restaurant facilities and, in winter, an ice skating rink.
  • Compo Beach is a 29-acre waterfront park with sandy beaches, boardwalk and pavilion, athletic fields, skate park and marina.
  • Burying Hill Beach is a municipal beach in the Greens Farms section of town.
  • Comprising 234 acres,Sherwood Island State Park is located on Long Island Sound and includes beach access.
  • The Westport/Weston YMCA offers two swimming pools, two gymnasiums, a fitness center and a complete roster of health, sports and exercise programs.

Additional parks, ball fields, tennis courts and other facilities can be found throughout the town.


Fairfield Recreation

Fairfield residents enjoy a wealth of recreational opportunities, many of which stem from Fairfield’s enviable location on the Long Island Sound.
  • The town’s 5 miles of Long Island Sound coastline include 5 town beaches staffed by lifeguards as well as miles of privately owned beach which are open to the public below the high tide mark.
  • South Benson Marina is a town-owned facility providing 600 boat slips which residents can rent for the summer.
  • Lake Mohegan, which includes waterfalls called The Cascades, is a popular destination for hiking, as is the Fairfield Audubon Society on Burr Street and the Bird Sanctuary on Unquowa Road.
  • Ye Yacht Yard, a town owned facility on picturesque Southport Harbor provides boat launch services to residents, and access to moorings in Southport Harbor. Ye Yacht Yard is also the location of Community Sailing of Fairfield, whose members share use of two 18-foot sailboats.
  • The town of Fairfield is home to one public and three private golf courses. D. Fairchild Wheeler is the 18-hole municipal course while Brooklawn Country Club, The Patterson Club, and the Country Club of Fairfield are private member clubs.


Weston Recreation

The landscape of Weston is characterized by open spaces with almost one quarter of the town permanently devoted to open space use, including:

  • Devil’s Den Preserve, with a wide variety of flora and fauna, and a 20-mile trail system that connects with the extended 70-mile Saugatuck Valley Trails System.
  • Bisceglie Park, with baseball fields, a swimming hole, a two-mile jogging trail and fitness stations, stretching along the west branch of the Saugatuck River.
  • Morehouse Farm Park, with eight ball fields.
  • Aspetuck Land Trust, with 16 preserves scattered about town with a total of 645 acres.
  • Katherine Ordway Preserve, with 62 acres of woodland, three miles of trails and an arboretum.
  • Keene Park, with 6 acres along the Saugatuck River.
  • Open land around the Saugatuck Reservoir, with trails and opportunities for fishing.
  • Weston residents have access to Westport’s Compo Beach on Long Island Sound, as well as an expansive playground, marina, skateboard park, picnic and barbeque facilities. An outdoor ice skating rink is available during the winter months.
  • The Westport/Weston YMCA, located in Westport, offers two swimming pools, two gymnasiums, a fitness center and the complete roster of health, sports and exercise programs.
  • Weston is also home to the beautiful 113 acre Aspetuck Valley Country Club which is a private members club offering an 18-hole golf course and driving range, tennis, swimming and dining. Weston also offers the Weston Field Club, the Weston Gun Club, and the Weston Racquet Club.
